Letter from College Board Chair to LFCC Community
September 6, 2017
Dear members of the LFCC community:
On behalf of the Lord Fairfax Community College Board, I want to thank you for your participation in the survey addressing the search process for the next president of LFCC. The College Board met on August 28, 2017 to review the results of the survey and to establish the priorities that will guide the selection process. Your responses to the survey were invaluable to our discussions.
Please be assured that your ideas and the values you have shared with us will be represented throughout the search process. Like you, we share your pride in the progress LFCC has made in recent years and will seek to build upon the strengths that you have identified. We will also work hard to find the person who can address the challenges you see in the future for LFCC.
Board Vice Chair Bill C. Daniel (Clarke County), Vice Chair Elect Pam M. McInnis (Warren County), and I will be strong advocates for LFCC as we travel to Richmond to work with the search committee on screening applications and interviewing candidates. As the field is narrowed, you will be given an opportunity to meet the finalists and provide your thoughts on each candidate. The College Board strongly encourages you to participate with this important piece of the selection process.
Change is never easy, but with change comes opportunity. The College Board appreciates the opportunity to hear your voice and work with you as we all move forward.
Fran L. Jeffries Lord Fairfax Community College Board chair
- Initial screening begins: October 16, 2017
- State-level interviews in Richmond: November 6 and 7, 2017
- Interviews at the community college: Early December 2017
- Chancellor announces new president: December 2017
Community Invited to Share Input through Survey
Over the next several months, the Virginia Community College System and the Lord Fairfax Community College Board will conduct a national presidential search. One of the first steps required in the search process is the establishment of priorities for LFCC over the next three to five years, which will guide the search committee.
We invite LFCC employees, students, parents, alumni, community partners, and residents of our service region to complete the brief survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/LFCC_President_Survey
The survey will be available through Monday, August 21. Survey responses are anonymous and will be reported in the aggregate to the College Board members and the VCCS Chancellor.
The survey can also be completed in paper format at LFCC’s Middletown Campus, Warrenton Campus, Luray-Page County Center, and Vint Hill Site. If you have questions about the survey, please contact Dr. John Milam at firstname.lastname@example.org.
