HMS 290 Coordinated Internship – HMS – Human Services

HMS 290 Coordinated Internship, is designed to provide students opportunities to practice, apply, and explore values, knowledge, and skills learned in their coursework to a public or private human services agency, under the guidance of experienced practitioners who serve as placement supervisors.

Supervises on-the-job training in selected business, industrial or service firms coordinated by the college. Prerequisites: ENG 111, HMS 100, HMS 121, 2 HMS/SOC/PSY electives, instructor permission

It is not necessary for the student to arrange an internship placement prior to the application deadline. For applications submitted and approved prior to the deadlines, the student will be enrolled in HMS 290 for the specified semester and the Human Services faculty will help the student coordinate an internship placement.

Late submissions will be considered on a case by case basis.

The internship application can be found here and the current Internship Handbook is available for review here. To access the application and the handbook, students will need to log into their VCCS accounts.
