About the Veterans Mentor Program

The Lord Fairfax Community College Veterans Mentor Program matches our student veterans with veterans in the community. This program is designed to positively impact the lives of our student veterans by providing them with access to supportive role models on a one-on-one basis. The program is focused on promoting personal and professional growth among our student veterans.

What is a mentor?

A mentor is someone who guides a less experienced person in achieving their goals. A mentor is a coach, comrade, and friend who is supportive of the mentee. A mentor should be committed to developing a supportive relationship with the program participant especially in the areas of employment preparedness, job placement, finding a place in our community, and the transition to civilian life. In this program, all our mentors and mentees are veterans of the armed services.
