Great Expectations

WHAT IS GREAT EXPECTATIONS?

Great Expectations is a statewide initiative designed to help foster youth complete high school, gain access to a community college education and transition successfully from the foster care system to living independently.

BUILDING THE BOND:

Youth who pursue post-secondary education and professional training are better able to hold a job, obtain health care and make a contribution to society. Virginia has the highest percentage of teens aging out of the foster care system without a permanent home – ranking last of all states in the U.S. Currently, over 54% of foster youth who age out of the system at 18 will become homeless or unstably housed.

HOW CAN I HELP?

Donate Now  Great Expectations is funded through private donations to the LFCC Foundation. Donations cover the cost of a coach and mentor, college program development, student activities and access to a crisis fund. Please join our partners in supporting this vital program.

HOW DO I GET STARTED?

Students may enter the program at any time by meeting with the Great Expectations Advisor and submitting an application.
