Computer Competency Certification Exam (IC3®)
LFCC requires many degree-seeking students to demonstrate proficiency in computer operations and software applications. Students may take ITE 115- Introduction to Computer Applications and Concepts or demonstrate proficiency in core computer competencies by passing each of the three sections of the IC³- Internet and Computing Core Certification (Computer Competency Certification Exam). The three sections cover topics in Computing Fundamentals, Key Applications, and Living Online. Each section must receive a passing score to achieve the LFCC computer literacy requirement. After achieving IC³ certification, credits may or may not be accepted at other institutions.
Students who do not pass the exam must take a computer course, such as ITE 115. Students, who are unsure whether to take the IC³ certification exams or take the computer course recommended by their course of study, should refer to their faculty advisor or counselor for program specific guidance.
Study guides are available for check-out in the Paul Wolk Library, on the Middletown Campus and the Bob G. Sowder Library, on the Fauquier Campus.
Prior to testing, test candidates must register online and purchase IC³ (Global Standard 4 or Global Standard 5) exam vouchers at www.certiport.com.
