Lord Fairfax Community College was awarded a U.S. Department of Labor TAACCCT grant to create “Knowledge to Work” (K2W), an initiative that offers personalized learning plans tied to competencies using open educational resources. Seven associate’s degree and certificate programs are offered, including: Associate of Applied Science degrees in Health Information Management and in Information Systems Technology, the Certificate in Office Systems Assistant, and Career Studies Certificates in Hospital Facility Coding, Information Processing Technician, Cyber Security, and Networking Specialist.

LFCC has been approved by the Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Veterans Services to provide education and training to eligible persons in seven competency-based education (CBE) programs:
