LFCC Fauquier Campus Lockdown: Nearby Walmart Shooting

7:10 p.m. – Fauquier Campus ALL CLEAR

LFCC Alert ALL CLEAR: The Fauquier Campus is ALL CLEAR and no longer in danger due to the earlier shooting at the nearby Walmart / Home Depot area.

Information we are receiving from Fauquier County is that the scene at Walmart is secure and no longer a concern for safety at LFCC. Suspects are 5+ miles away from campus and being tracked by law enforcement.

Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office Two victims male/female shot in Walmart parking lot

WARRENTON – At approximately 5:15 pm law enforcement was dispatched to the Home Depot parking lot in Warrenton for a shooting. Upon arrival it was determined that the shooting occurred next-door at the Walmart in Warrenton. A male and female victim became engaged in a confrontation in the parking lot in front of Walmart while they were inside of a vehicle they were shot, the shooter left the scene and the victims drove next-door to Home Depot to call 911. Initial investigation-the victims were involved in a confrontation in the Walmart parking lot. The shooter shot into the car and left. The victims drove next door to a Home Depot parking lot and called 911. They were Transported to a local hospital and are being treated for non life threatening injuries. There is currently a very large law-enforcement presence at both Walmart and Home Depot and Warrenton please avoid the area.

6:05 p.m. – LFCC Alert: The Fauquier Campus is currently on lockdown due to a shooting at the nearby Walmart.

In the case of inclement weather – regardless of the emergency closing announcement – all students and employees should use good judgment as to whether or not it is safe to travel.
