The public is invited to a joint celebration on the LFCC Fauquier Campus 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 11. The college is hosting both a Global Awareness Day and Spring Picnic.
Visitors, students and staff can browse international displays and sample food from around the world. An Americana-themed cake walk is scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to noon, with a belly dancer performing and offering lessons from noon to 1 p.m. and a mariachi band from 1-2 p.m.
The Spring Picnic will feature food from Shawn’s BBQ, a large inflatable obstacle course, swings, a caricature artist, ice cream and a photo booth.
The events will take place outside and in the newly-renovated Barn.
“We’re hoping it’s going to be a great day,” says Assistant Professor of Communication Cristy Stefnoski. “We’re trying to build Global Awareness Day into a larger event.”
With many area schools off for Spring Break, she is hoping to see some students, especially high schoolers interested in getting a feel for the LFCC campus.
“This is kind of a way they can do it,” Stefnoski says. “They don’t have to announce they’re going to be a student. They can just come and look.”
