Emergency Alert: Police Have Been Notified of Police Activity Near Fauquier Campus

Lockdown Statement from LFCC

At 7:20 p.m. on Thursday, October 15, 2015 the Fauquier County Sheriffs Department came to Lord Fairfax Community College’s Fauquier Campus at 6480 College Street in Warrenton, VA in search of an individual whose vehicle was found in the parking lot of the school. The College issued a lockdown of the campus as a precautionary measure based on information provided by local law enforcement. The individual was not a Lord Fairfax Community College student and there was never a threat to anyone inside the campus buildings.

At 9:55 p.m. all students and staff were able to leave the campus and were escorted to their cars. All were grateful with the precautions taken.

Fauquier Campus Lockdown Timeline October 15, 2015

Update 8:16 p.m.: For the Fauquier Campus Only: STAY INSIDE classroom/office, lock doors until further notice.

Update 9:20 p.m.: This is a police-related incident close to the school. We are closely monitoring the situation.

Update 9:28 p.m.: Everyone is safe on the Fauquier Campus. The lockdown is due to Police Activity in the area. We are working closely with local authorities and will provide updates as information becomes available.

Update 10:04 p.m.: Students are currently being escorted out of the building to their vehicles. The lockdown was a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of our students, no threat ever existed inside LFCC facilities. We appreciate everyones cooperation throughout the event.

Update 10:26 p.m.: Via the Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office: The Sheriff’s Office is currently searching wooded property adjacent to the campus of Lord Fairfax Community College outside of Warrenton for a possible suicidal subject, there is no indication the individual is armed with a weapon at this time however there is evidence this individual may harm himself by other means. FCSO and VA State Police are working in conjunction with LFCC campus police to ensure campus safety however there is no direct threat to the LFCC campus at this time.

Update October 16, 2015, 9 a.m.: “The subject of the overnight search near Lord Fairfax Community College was located early this morning,” according to a release from the Sheriff’s Office early Friday. “All related law enforcement operations have terminated.”

In the case of inclement weather – regardless of the emergency closing announcement – all students and employees should use good judgment as to whether or not it is safe to travel.
