Warrenton, VA. On June 1, 2015, Dr. Christopher Coutts takes the helm as Lord Fairfax Community College’s (LFCC) Provost in Fauquier County. “It’s a great honor to be able to work with the faculty and staff at the Fauquier Campus of LFCC. The Campus is poised for great things, and I am looking forward to leading the effort to making Lord Fairfax the Fauquier community’s College,” said Dr. Coutts.

As the first Provost in the history of LFCC, Dr. Coutts will serve as the face of the campus in Fauquier. He will be very involved in community organizations and local government and on campus with students, faculty, and staff. LFCC President, Dr. Cheryl Thompson-Stacy said, “I look forward to working with Dr. Coutts in this new role.”

As the Fauquier Campus celebrates its 27th year, much has changed. There were 17 students and 18 class selections when the doors opened in 1988 and last year the Campus served over 2,600 students and offered over 500 class selections. Plans are currently underway to build a new academic building for science and health classes. Earlier this year, LFCC opened a new location in Vint Hill, where students take general education classes, as well as, career training courses.

Dr. Coutts will assume many of the duties that were performed by Dr. Judy Batson, Associate Vice President and Campus Administrator, who will be retiring in June. Dr. Batson joined LFCC in 2008 and has been instrumental in increasing the number of program offerings in the STEM-H (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Health) curriculums. Thompson-Stacy remarked, “During Dr. Batson’s tenure as campus leader, she has done an outstanding job running the campus and her commitment to quality education and the success of our students is exemplary.”

Dr. Coutts was born in East London, South Africa. Coutts earned a Ph.D. in Education from the University of Virginia and has been employed at LFCC since 2008. He began his career with the College as Associate Dean of Learning for Business, Technology, Science, and Health Professions on the Middletown, Virginia campus. He was promoted to Vice President of Learning in 2009 and to Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs in 2011.
