Warrenton, VA. – Residents will soon have the opportunity to take Lord Fairfax Community College classes at Vint Hill.  Beginning in February 2015, a variety of general education and professional certification courses will be offered (see list below).

According to LFCC President Cheryl Thompson-Stacy: “We are excited to be part of this new chapter at Vint Hill, and we already have many ideas for the future.  As this region grows, so will the demand for post-secondary education. An important part of LFCC’s mission is to offer affordable classes that are also easily accessible.”

Carol Smith was recently hired to manage LFCC at Vint Hill: “Whether you are interested in pursuing a degree or certificate or just taking a class for your own satisfaction, we are here to meet those needs.”  An open house is scheduled for SaturdayDecember 6th at 2:00 p.m.  In addition to taking a tour of the new classrooms, visitors are encouraged to make suggestions for future course offerings.

LFCC’s presence at Vint Hill reflects a much larger community college strategy. Led by Chancellor Glenn DuBois, the Virginia Community College System (VCCS) recently adopted a new six-year strategic plan – Complete 2021.  The plan has one ambitious goal: triple the number of credentials awarded to VCCS students by 2021.

“Offering the pharmacy tech and clinical medical assistant program at Vint Hill supports the statewide goal to triple credentials,” says Jeanian Clark, LFCC’s Vice President of Workforce Solutions.  Clark served on the VCCS strategic planning task force. “We feel that the Fauquier market is wide open for workforce development, and we are actively seeking additional sites for training in the trades.”

LFCC’s classes begin the week of February 2, 2015.  Registration is now open at www.lfcc.edu
