Lord Fairfax Community College (LFCC) has been recognized by G.I. Jobs magazine as a Military Friendly School for a third year. This designation is the result of researching policies of 12,000 schools by G.I. Jobs. The magazine focuses on helping military troops and their families transition to civilian life. To be designated, a college must rank in the top 15 percent of schools that have successfully recruited and retained veteran students.
One recent example of assistance is the textbook loan fund for veterans, established by the LFCC Foundation. The fund provides aid to veterans with financial need, for the purchase of necessary textbooks while awaiting their GI Bill payments. According to LFCC Foundation Director, Liv Heggoy, “AMVETS Post 18 in Stephens City, Virginia, has been a generous supporter of this new fund, in addition to other community members.”
As a Military Friendly school, LFCC is included in the listings for the 2014 Guide to Military Friendly Schools, as well as an online listing at http://www.militaryfriendlyschools.com/mfslist.aspx.
