Lord Fairfax Community College (LFCC) made the 2013 List of Best Medical Billing and Coding Schools by Value from FrugalDad.com. FugalDad.com is a leading on-line resource for families seeking financial advice for college. Their 2013 College Recognition List incorporated colleges with programs that provide exceptional value, as well as, quality education.
Because the medical billing and coding job market has grown immensely in the past few years, so has the need for qualified individuals to fill the positions. Medical billers and coders are individuals who manage information and data from health care providers to ensure efficient and accurate record taking, billing, and more. Most work in hospitals or physician’s offices, yet some have the flexibility to perform tasks from home.
The Medical Billing /Coding Certification can be completed in one year at LFCC if students take classes on a full-time basis for three semesters and meet certain pre-qualifications. The curriculum includes courses in college composition, medical coding and reimbursement, and medical office bookkeeping and insurance.
