Lord Fairfax Community College (LFCC) has again been recognized by G.I. Jobs magazine as a Military Friendly School. This designation is the result of research into the policies of 8,000 postsecondary institutions by G.I. Jobs. The magazine focuses on helping military troops in their transition to civilian life. To be designated, a school must make the top 20 percent of schools that have taken additional action to help returning veterans.
“At LFCC, we consider helping veterans and their dependents achieve their educational goals to be an important service,” stated LFCC President, Dr. Cheryl Thompson-Stacy. “One way we help to meet the needs of this population is through the work of our Veteran Admissions Specialist, Kelsey Byard.”
Byard’s position is new to LFCC, and focuses on serving active duty, veterans, their spouses and dependents. Services include assistance with application to LFCC, financial aid, and supportive services. This position allows LFCC to give more individual attention, improve services and provide quick turnaround time for College processes.
As a Military Friendly school, LFCC is included in the listings for the 2012 Guide to Military Friendly Schools, as well as an online listing at www.militaryfriendlyschools.com . For more information about LFCC’s program for veterans and their families, contact Kelsey Byard at (540) 868-7003 or email@example.com .
