MIDDLETOWN and WARRENTON, Va. – Lord Fairfax Community College's (LFCC) Office of Workforce Solutions is offering a series of new classes that will help attendees develop their culinary skills. The classes are being taught by Michelle Miller, owner of Panache Catering.
Information about the various classes follows:
- Cooking Thai Food – July 12 and Aug. 9 – This class will expose attendees to the wonderful world of Thai food with its delicious spices and subtle flavors. In this class, attendees will prepare the food and dinner menu, and upon completion, will enjoy dinner with their classmates.Attendees will also take home recipes from the meal.
- Cooking Hors d'oeuvres – July 19 and Aug. 16 – Attendees will learn to prepare the perfect selection of appetizers for entertaining, along with garnishing ideas and presentation skills. Following is a list of recipes that attendees will learn to make: bruschetta with tomatoes and fresh basil, fresh asparagus or other veggies with wasabi mayonnaise, parsnip pancakes with sour cream and caviar, baby crab cakes with remoulade sauce, sesame shrimp with ginger tahini dip and Thai beef skewers with fresh mint and Thai dipping sauce.
- Cooking Desserts – July 26 and Aug. 23 – Attendees will learn to impress their friends and dinner guests with a selection of desserts that are delicious and easy to make. Attendees will learn to make chocolate dipped strawberries with edible gold dust, chocolate raspberry ganache cake, frozen white chocolate mousse with strawberry sauce, Grand Marnier brownies and spiced pumpkin cheesecake with praline topping. These delectable desserts will be shared with the class, including recipes to take home for later.
