WARRENTON, Va. – At the age of 25, singer/songwriter Gregory Douglass released his sixth album in November 2006. In promotion of his latest album “Up & Away,” Douglass is touring the country, performing at colleges and universities, clubs and festivals.

Douglass will perform live at Lord Fairfax Community College (LFCC) on Friday, Feb. 16, 2007, at 8 p.m. in the Barn on the Fauquier Campus, located at 6480 College Street in Warrenton. Opening for Douglass are musicians Steph Taylor and Brooksie Wells. The concert is free and open to the public and is sponsored by the Student Activities Office.

Douglass’ music is a combination of contemporary folk, pop and rock. Douglass has been recognized for his musical talent by qualifying as a finalist for both the 2005 International Songwriting Competition and the 2004 Independent Music Awards, winning the 2003 GrammyFest Awards in New York City and serving as the inaugural performer on the American Red Cross “Save a Life Tour” in 2003. Douglass wrote and recorded the material for his first two albums while in high school. After graduating, he began pursuing his music career full time.

Taylor, a friend of Douglass, is currently touring with him in promotion of her second album “Between Ground and Sky.” Taylor, 23, has been performing on the piano and guitar before fans in her home state of Florida since she was 16. In an effort to perfect her songwriting skills, Taylor moved to Boston, Mass., to study at Berklee College of Music.

Wells, a local Warrenton resident, will also open for Douglass. Wells is a veteran children’s musician and mother of two who returned to her rock and country musical background in the late 1990s. In 2005, Wells released “Been There,” an album of 12 original alternative country songs. Discovered by Bobby Darin, a popular big band performer and rock-and-roll teen idol of the late 1950s, Wells began her career by writing songs for Chappell Music. She later performed with John Lennon's band Elephant's Memory and as a singer with Kid Creole and the Coconuts.
